Huge Tree Pastry: Authentic Taiwanese Breakfast & Brunch Experience

We came on a Friday around 11am. No wait. Food came out super fast. We ordered: large savory soy milk, extra you tiao, purple rice ball with you tiao, pork floss, egg and pickles, egg scallion pancakes, fried radish cakes, between 2 people bill was $25 incl 20% tip. The only thing I didn’t like was the radish cakes because I prefer the Cantonese ones at dim sum. These were too fried and didn’t have enough chunky fillings

One of my FAVORITE places to go for Taiwanese breakfast when I miss home! Glad to have this spot available to hit my tastebuds with what they need! This is everything we got below and I recommend it all! Good portions, amazing flavor, and quick service. Support small business and enjoy some Taiwanese cuisine!!!!

I haven’t gotten back to this little old fashioned Taiwanese breakfast spot. They serve traditional Taiwanese/Chinese breakfast dishes, pastries and more. I got some Purple Rice Fan Tuan with Eggs and Pickles, rice peanut milk, and Chinese fried donut.

I have been to this place couple times and will continue. Authentic Taiwanese breakfast place. You don’t want to miss it. Purple rice burrito is a must to try. Everything tastes authentic and the staffs are friendly and chill. It’s cash only and there is plenty of parking spot.

I mean… awesome Taiwanese breakfast hands down. No frills, no shills. Try the salty or sweet tofu and get the pancakes with eggs. Decor? Yea, it’s a traditional cozy place so 3 stars. With all the new fancy decors and spots, this place stands out. Feels like I’m back to a more simpler times!

As someone who has eaten authentic breakfasts in Taiwan, this spot is definitely comparable, if not even better. Their purple rice salty fan tuan and baked sesame bread (or shaobing) with egg are my absolute favorites! So flavorful and homemade, I feel like I am transported back to local breakfast shops in Taipei. The only complaint is that the service is really rude and the environment is a bit run-down. Otherwise, I will still be back for these two items and more!

One of the best taiwanese breakfast food joint you can find in LA. This place is old school, and looks to come straight out of the 80's, but the food is so authentic, you realize that the ambience and service is not meant to be considered. We had XLB, purple rice roll, and Beef Roll. Although the XLB is adequate, it's nothing to write home about, but the purple rice roll and beef roll are freshly made, and are very satisfying. The fried dough inside the rice roll is crispy, the rice on the outside is perfectly cook with a chew. if you are inclined to add the garlic soy sauce with it, there is no better comfort food. The true standout is the beef roll. Unlike many other places, the roll is deep fried, but yet tastes so light. It manages to be crispy and fluffy, but not oily, and pairs perfectly with marinated beef slices within.
